Fire chief hiring notice

       While River Fire Protection District, a rapidly growing bedroom community in northern Johnson County, is seeking applications for the position of Fire Chief. The District provides non-transport paramedic, rescue, fire suppression, fire prevention, and public education service to a
population of 30,000 from 2 fire stations. A new station/headquarters is under construction and nearly complete. The District currently operates using 8 full-time firefighters and 65 standby volunteers. The Fire Chief will be responsible for a management of a $1.5M annual operating budget as well as tong term planning. A minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science, Public Administration, or related field and 5 years in a command or administrative position supervising at least 25 tire personnel is preferred.  Applicants with equivalent experience and education who possess the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered. Applicants must be eligible for the 1977 Firefighters’ Fund. Salary: 54K plus benefits.
