Firefighters receive awards

       White River Township Fire Department last month recognized several firefighters for outstanding service.  Jory Cox, who serves in the department’s maintenance division, was awarded the Firefighter of the Year Award.  Cox, 21, helps keep the department’s fire trucks and tools on the truck in good working order.  Other awards included:

• Investigator of the Year Steve Coover
• Inspector of the Year Dave Sherfick
• Cadet Firefighter of the Year Jason Coffey
• Training Award, Jerry Harder
• Most Off-Duty Run Hours, Tony Slusher
• Most On-Duty Hours Worked, Jory Cox
• 10-year Service, Mike Shoemaker, Kevan Crawley, Steve German, Tom Arkins
• Five-year Service, Steve Coover, Mike Hoffman, Andy Martindale, Mike Phillips, Randy Shelly, Dave Sherfick, Travis Sichting, Ray Skipper
• Second and Third Most On- Duty Hours Worked, Gary Borden and Wayne Fletcher
• Second and Third Most Off- Duty Run Hours, Jory Cox and Mike Phillips
• Second and Third Most Training Awards, Rodney Shambarger and Matt Partain
