WRT man charged for bomb

A 49-year-old White River Township man was arrested by the township’s fire marshal Sunday for possession of a bomb. “We’ve been out there a total of four times for trash fires he’d started around the creek,” said Division Chief Eric Brown, fire marshal at White River Township Fire Department. Brown said Robert G. Clark, 49, 109 Shady Brook Heights, was building homemade fire bombs using plastic containers filled with a flammable substance. “He denies any wrongdoing,” Brown said.  However, several witnesses reportedly saw Clark placing the bombs, ignited by a paper-towel wick along the creek.  The incidents began around Dec. 27, Brown said. On Sunday, firefighters were called once again to Friendly Village trailer park for another fire near the creek.  “We got there and found out he had been experimenting and tossing them in the creek,” Brown said.  Witnesses reportedly saw flames floating down the nearby waterway. Clark was jailed repeatedly this weekend and was on his way to jail once again Monday evening, Brown said.  Brown said Clark was arrested Friday night for intimidation and released on Saturday.  Brown arrested Clark on Sunday, and Clark bailed out Monday morning. U.S. marshals were on their way Monday evening to arrest Clark for violating probation.  Clark was charged with possession of a loaded bomb and criminal recklessness for his alleged actions Sunday, and released on $18,000 bond.  (Reprinted with permission from the Daily Journal)
