Man killed by fumes while working on car
A White River Township man died accidentally Thursday, apparently of carbon monoxide poisoning. William M. Billerman, 27, apparently left his car running while working on it inside a closed garage. He was apparently overcome by poisonous exhaust. Billerman’s roommate found him at 10:14 a.m. Thursday at their residence in the 900 block of Lionshead Lane in the Foxberry Trace subdivision. He was unconscious inside the Honda CRX, and the engine was still running. “He was working on the car stereo in his car and started the car to test it, or maybe he got cold, and was overcome by carbon monoxide poisoning,” said sheriff’s Detective Duane Burgess. The roommate estimated that Billerman had been working in the garage about 20 minutes. White River Township firefighters performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation and rushed Billerman to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy is scheduled for today. The case is under investigation. (Reprinted with permission from the Daily Journal)
