Practice makes perfect

       At the Center Grove High School pool Friday, White River Township firefighters simulate the water rescue of a victim with back or head trauma.  Firefighter Tony Slush played the victim, while the rescuers were firefighter Mark Hart, left in photo below, and Lt. Chad Abel, front.  The fire department recently purchased 13 life vests, a water rescue boat, four cold-water suits and water rescue ropes.  Water rescues are expected to become more common, due to a growing number of retention ponds in the county.  (Reprinted with permission from the Daily Journal)
