Fire causes $100,000 damage

A weekend fire in a White River Township home caused $100,000 damage, but no injuries.  The fire at the Jackie and Clara Lucas residence at 351 N. Windmill Trail was called in to the White River Township Fire Department at 7:31 p.m. Friday.  Clara Lucas reported that she noticed the fire in the garage and tried to move her car out, but the fire spread too rapidly. Firefighters reported that they were hindered by the car and combustible materials stored in the garage. That allowed the fire to spread to the attic and belongings stored there before firefighters got it under control.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation.  Investigators are awaiting laboratory results, but the fire appears to have started in the garage. No one was injured. The Greenwood and Bargersville fire departments assisted in fighting the blaze.  (Reprinted with permission from the Daily Journal)
