Strawberry Festival to kick off holiday activities
The strawberries may be late this year, but that hasn’t stopped the White River Fire Department from having its annual Strawberry Festival to raise funds for the department. The festival - from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday - will be at Station 2 at Fairview Road and Meridian Park Drive. Besides generous helpings of strawberry shortcake vendors will sell Polish sausage, tenderloins, elephant ears and other carnival food. There also will be craft booths including a basket and a cosmetic booth. Bargersville Senior Citizens Center will sell bread and noodles. Kiddie rides and helicopter rides will be offered, and fire trucks and firefighter’s gear will be on display. PSI will give a safety demonstration about how to deal with live wires, Sevenish Martial Arts America will give a karate demonstration Friday only, and the County Sheriff’s will demonstrate its K-9 unit. The firefighters will also demonstrate how the department handles extracations and car fires. Men and women will have a contest to see who can unroll the hoses first.
