Man dies after veering into home
An autopsy report on why a 70- year-old Greenwood man lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a mobile home Saturday is expected to be completed this afternoon, a spokeswoman with the Marion County coroner’s office said. William M. Henderson, 7248 W. Stones Crossing Road, Greenwood, was, pronounced dead at Community Hospital South shortly after the accident at 7:32 am. Henderson had been eastbound in his 1993 GMC Sonoma truck near his home when he veered into Pam Hazelton’s mobile home, causing $200 damage. Police found inside the car a portable oxygen tank that Henderson apparently used for an illness. They believe Henderson lost control of his truck because of the illness, according to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Department report. Henderson was a self-employed farmer for 50 years and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. His funeral is Wednesday. No one else was injured in the accident.
