Thanks to firefighters
The following
was printed as a letter to the editor and reprinted with permission of the Daily
Journal
To the editor:
I want to say that it was with amazement that my husband and I surveyed the
damage to our son’s home by fire on July 14. With the heat pushing 100 degrees,
firefighters also faced the heat of the fire, smoke and everything. My question
is, how could the firemen take time to save so much that could not be replaced?
Thanking them seems like such a small thing to do. But we wanted to say
something for our son and daughter-in-law and our grandchildren. They are trying
right now to have some kind of normal life. So to the Greenwood, Whiteland, New
Whiteland, Clark Township, Perry Township and White River Township Fire
Departments, I would like to say thank you and let you know how much the
families of these two young people appreciate every effort that you put forth. I
pray that the men who were taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion will not
have any lasting effects from it. Also, we would like to thank the Greenwood
Ladies Auxiliary, the neighbors who opened their homes and friends who just
helped in any way they could. Thanks seem so small. God bless you.
