Fire damages WRT home
Firefighters are wrapping up an investigation into a Sunday fire that caused as much as $50,000 in damage to a White River Township home. No one was home when the blaze broke out about 2:30 p.m. at the home of Robert Pearcy, said Lt. Tom Arkins of the White River Township Fire Department. Arkins said the electrical fire started in the family room at 537 San Ricardo Court, and was confined there due to a quick call-in from a passerby with a cellular phone. Pearcy was out of town when the fire broke out, Arkins said, and is currently staying with his mother due to smoke and heat damage in other rooms of the house. Arkins praised his firefighters, who took only about 15 minutes to control the flames. Neither the Johnson County Red Cross nor the township trustee was aware of any relief effort for the family, which Arkins said was fully insured. (Reprinted with permission from the Daily Journal)
