Fire destroys WRT home

Fire swept through a White River Township home earlier this morning that left the structure in ruins.  The homeowners had apparently just returned from vacation and were using a gas-fired heating appliance to thaw out frozen water pipes in the crawl space when some insulation caught fire.  The fire rapidly spread underneath the home at 215 Adrienne Drive and up through the inside of the walls and ultimately to the attic.  This scenario made it extremely difficult for firefighters as the fire was difficult to initially locate.  Sub-freezing temperatures also contributed to the difficulty for firefighters as water was freezing before it could reach the nozzles.  No one was injured in the blaze and the home is anticipated to be a total loss.
