Fire department chooses chief

       Scott Cassin has been chosen as chief of the White River Fire Department for 1993.  Cassin has been with the department since the mid-’80’s and served as assistant chief for 1992 and one other year, said Chuck Hagedon, public relations person for the district.  Cassin was chosen by the district’s seven-member board.  His appointment was announced at the district’s annual Christmas party, held Dec. 11.  Naming Cassin as chief was just one of several announcements made at the party.  The district also honored Bob Wehrman, who is retiring after serving for 30 years with the district.  He will continue to serve as a reserve fireman and will do some arson investigations.   Jim Meacham Jr. was announced as firefighter of the year, an award voted on by all the firefighters.  Meacham has been with the department since the late ‘80s. Hagedon said Meacham was honored for his firefighting and public relations work for the district.  (Reprinted with permission from the Daily Journal)
