White River celebrates fire station opening
White
River Township firefighters will officially open their new Fire Station 2 on
Saturday. An open house is planned for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the new fire
station, at 398 Meridian Parke Lane. All events are open to the public. The
building has been in use since April 1 but was recently completed. The official
opening of the building marks the end of a two-year quest for a new fire station
to serve northern White River Township.
A ribbon-cutting is set for 11:30 a.m., followed by a free hog roast, with
serving beginning at noon. Three safety and rescue demonstrations are planned.
A Lifeline helicopter from Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis will arrive at
12:15 p.m.; a demonstration on power line safety by PSI Energy is set for 2 pm.;
and an auto extrication demonstration is set for 3p.m. Free blood-pressure
screening also will be offered, and information will available on upcoming
classes in the area on cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The station is located at
the west side of the Meridian Parke shopping center, at the southwest corner of
Fairview Road and Meridian Parke Lane. In the first photo below, firefighters
