Annual Fish Fry time in WRT

       Firefighters from the White River Township Fire Department held their annual fish fry this past weekend.  The event was held in the empty lot next to the Bargain Bobs Shoe Store on State Road 135 just north of Smith Valley Road.  Firefighters had a full array of activities for all ages including an automobile extrication demonstration and a visit from the LifeLine helicopter from Methodist Hospital.  Fire Department officials state that crowds were down this year despite fair weather.  "I think the road construction along 135 made it difficult for some to access and in fact turned a few away," said Captain Scott Cassin with the department.  Although sales were sluggish, the department was still able to get its message out to those who patronized the event.  "We want the people of White River Township to know what their taxes are paying for and for them to come out, have a good meal, and a good time," Cassin added.
