Tanker gets new engine, transmission
Fire Chief Howard Bennis and firefighter Ken Deane are seen in the photo below polishing the chrome on Engine 53, a 2,000 gallon pumper-tanker unit that the White River Township Fire Department recently upgraded. "The engine and transmission were both shot and needed to be replaced or have extensive work on them," said Chief Bennis. "Becaue the transmission was a manual and now over 13 years old, it was decided the best course of action would be to replace both with new equipment," he added. The work was completed last month and the truck was placed back in regular service at the station shortly thereafter.
