Firefighter's group picks officers
New officers were chosen and awards were handed out during Thursday’s meeting of the Johnson County Firefighters Association. Jim Campbell of the Greenwood Fire Department was chosen president for 1990. Other officers include Lyman Benner of Whiteland, first vice president; Larry Christian of New Whiteland, second vice president; Pat McDaniel of White River Township, secretary; and Anna Marsh of White River, treasurer. Johnson County Sheriff Doran Miller gave awards for exemplary service on behalf of the sheriff’s department to one member of each fire department. Two additional awards also were made, one by the association and one by the New Whiteland volunteer Fire Department.

In addition, the firefighters association gave
a plaque to McDaniel for her work as executive director of the Johnson County
Chapter of the American Red Cross. Also, the New Whiteland Fire Department gave
a Lifelong Service Award to 30 year member Ray Rodgers.
