Fire damages fireplace flue

Firefighters responded to a late evening call for a flue fire in the Carefree subdivision last evening.  White River Township Volunteer Fire Department arrived to find a fire burning inside the flue of a fireplace box inside the home on Serenity Road.  Firefighters used a chemical device called a Chimfex to extinguish the fire.  Damage was minimal, however the flue will need to be replaced before being used again.  Firefighters were on the scene for some time checking for hot spots and removing embers from the fireplace box.
