Getting a cool down

Getting a needed cool down is Carey Slauter, a cadet for the White River Township Volunteer Fire Department, as a home burns in the background.  White River recruit Scott Johnson hosed down Slauter after he complained of being overheated Saturday afternoon while dousing flames at the home on State Road 135 south of Smith Valley Road. The firemen’s main objective wasn’t to put the fire out though, as members of the White River, Greenwood, and Wayne Township Fire departments in Indianapolis participated in the day-long training session. The home was later burned down to make way for Buckmoor subdivision.  See a related story HERE (Reprinted with permission from the Daily Journal)
