Fireplace ashes start fire
White River Township firefighters responded to a house fire earlier this morning that was apparently started by discarded fireplace ashes. The fire occurred in the Pebble Hills subdivision off of Fairview Road in White River Township. The homeowner stated he cleaned out his fireplace last evening and placed the ashes in a paper bag on the rear porch of the home. The fire smoldered throughout the night eventually touching off the blaze that reached into the attic of the home. Fire damage was extensive, however damage reports were not available at press time. No one was injured in the fire.
