Fire officials up for election
White River
Assistant Fire Chief Pat McDaniel will find out Sunday if she will retain her
status as the county’s first woman assistant fire chief. Mrs. McDaniel, along
with White River Fire Chief Robert Henry, is up for re-election Sunday during
the White River Fire Department’s monthly meeting. White River Fire Department
member Howard Bennis is running against Henry for the fire chief spot. The
person who loses the fire chief election is expected to submit his name to be
considered for assistant fire chief. Mrs. McDaniel’s fellow firefighters
elected her assistant chief in September to finish out Henry’s term. Henry
became fire chief when Steve Shelton resigned because he moved from the township.
