Cyclist killed
An
Indianapolis man died today from injuries he suffered early Sunday in a
motorcycle accident in White River Township. According to the accident report,
Kevin L. Perkins, 25, was unconscious when officers arrived shortly after the
accident on Peterman Road near Woodcreek Court. Rescue workers said he suffered
head and internal injuries. He was taken to St. Francis Hospital Center in
Beech Grove, where he died about 10 a.m. today from massive head injuries.
Perkins was driving home from a party just ahead of two friends when the
accident occurred about 4 a.m. Sunday, officials said. As the trio approached a
curve on Peterman Road, Perkins accelerated to a high speed, the report said.
Perkins apparently did not realize Peterman Road curved sharply to the right,
and the bike left the road, the report said. Perkins was thrown from the cycle,
which continued for 100 feet before stopping. The report did not indicate
whether Perkins was wearing a helmet.
