Deputy injured in accident

White River Township volunteer firefighters responded to an accident last evening at the intersection of Smith Valley Road and State Road 135 involving a Johnson County Sheriff's deputy.  Witnesses state that it appeared that the deputy was responding on an emergency call when another vehicle pulled in front of him.  The impact caused the deputy's Ford Bronco to roll over onto its side before coming to a rest in a gas station parking lot.  The deputy is a K-9 officer and had his dog with him in the vehicle.  The dog appeared okay at the scene but made it difficult for rescue workers because the dog was very protective of his master.  No word on the extent of injuries was available at press time.
