WRT volunteers plan May Fest, fish fry
The
White River Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept. is combining May Fest along with their
annual fish fry, to be held May 28, 29, and 30. Site of the event is just north
of Smith Valley Road on St. Rd. 135. Many community groups will be represented
with booths and games. Joy Time Amusements will provide rides. A parade across
Fairview Road, Friday, May 28 will start at 6 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Church and
will end at the Marsh parking lot on St. Rd. 135. The fire department’s Ladies
Auxiliary will be sponsoring a baby contest, along with a queen contest.
Entertainment will be provided throughout the three days and will include a
magician, clowns, Life Line helicopter, bands, and dancing. The firefighters
will have a food tent where they will be frying their delicious fish sandwiches,
along with tenderloins and corndogs. Proceeds will go toward the purchase of the
volunteer’s new 1982 Chevrolet 1,000-gal-per-minute pumper, which they hope to
have on display. Anyone who would like to participate or to assist the
volunteers in their efforts are asked to contact Debbie Wemmer at 882-2560.
