Fire department plans fund-raising campaign

       The annual fund raising campaign for the White River Twp. Vol. Fire Dept. will be May 1. Fireman will be visiting homes in that area giving out letters which will include phone stickers with emergency phone numbers. The department will hold a fish fry as part of its May Fest may 28-30. The festival will be located just north of Smith Valley Rd., on St. Rd. 135. The May Fest will include booths, games and rides. A parade along Fairview Rd. will begin the festival at 6:00 p.m. May 28. A baby contest and queen contest will also be held. Funds raised during the annual campaign and May Fest will help pay for a new pumper truck for the fire department. The truck will replace its 1962 reserve engine, and will have a 1,000 gallon-per-minute pump.  (Reprinted with permission from the Daily Journal)
