Officials to meet about tot's death
Johnson
County investigators are planning to meet today to discuss the circumstances in
the case of a 14 month- old girl who died in her parents home on Nov. 22 as a
result if head injuries. Johnson County Deputy Prosecutor Bob Shook said that
he plans to meet with Lt. John Lasiter of the sheriff’s department “to size up
what we have.” In the meantime, Prosecutor D. Charles Gantz said that a grand
jury will be empanelled next Monday in Johnson Circuit Court. Because grand jury
proceedings are secret, Gantz would not divulge what cases will be heard by the
jurors or if the child’s death would be one of the topics. He said that Shook
will be in charge of the grand jury proceedings. Shook said information about
more than one investigation will be brought before the grand jury. He expects
the proceedings to last until Wednesday. Angela Cheryl Davis was pronounced dead
at her parents’ home at 177 J Court in Wheel Estates early on the morning of
Nov. 22. Coroner, Dick Tudor, ruled that she died of multiple head injuries. An
autopsy has been performed by pathologist Dr. Harvey Palmer, but a report has
not been issued. Tudor said the autopsy report probably wouldn’t be complete
until sometime this week. Gantz said today that his office has been in contact
with Lasiter about the case, but he has received no report about it. Shook said
that police have mounted an “extensive investigation” into the child’s death.
