Man dies from gun shot

A 22-year-old White River Township man died shortly after 11 a.m. today, the apparent victim of a self-inflicted shotgun wound, police said.  Johnson County Sheriff’s Deputy Gary Miller identified the victim as John K. Short, 22, 3984 Shadow Hill Lane, Greenwood.  Miller said the victim had been despondent and had called his father earlier in the day at work. They said his father had come home and was inside Short residence with his wife when the couple heard a gun blast.  John Short was found with a gunshot wound in the chest, sitting in his vehicle in front of the house.  Police said the family had recently moved to Johnson County. The victim believed to an employee of a private security company.  A 16-guage shotgun was recovered at the scene of the shooting.  Along with sheriff’s deputies White River Township ambulance personnel and Myers paramedics were called to the scene.  Sheriff’s deputies are continuing their investigation.  (Reprinted with permission from the Daily Journal)
