Woman shot at picnic Saturday
An
Indianapolis woman was in satisfactory condition this morning in St. Francis
Hospital, Beech Grove, after she was shot in the arm Saturday during a picnic in
Wheel Estates South. Nancy Brantingham, 34, was shot once in the right forearm
with a .22 caliber gun, according to a report filed by Johnson County Sheriff’s
Deputy Thomas Pritchard. Sgt. Robert Bishop later recovered a spent shell
approximately 130 yard from the victim. According to the report, Mrs.
Brantingham is the wife of the trailer parks manager, Bill Brantingham. Police
speculate that the shooting was accidental. The shot came from an area
frequently used for target practice. Police say Brantingham knew of no reason
why anyone would shot his wife. The victim was treated at the scene by White
River Township rescue worker. (Reprinted with permission from the
