Man dead following shooting incident
A White River Township man was killed by a gunshot
wound early this morning during a domestic disturbance in the Wheel Estates
subdivision, White River Township. The victim, Jimmie Bob Wilson, 47, I Court,
Lot 150, was shot once in the heart with a .22 caliber rifle, according to
Johnson County Coroner Dick Tudor. Johnson County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested
his wife, Mary Louella Wilson, 46, same address, this morning on a preliminary
murder charge. She is being held in the Johnson County Jail without bond. No
time has been set for Mrs. Wilson’s arraignment and the Prosecutor’s office has
not determined what formal charges will be filed against her. According to Lt.
John Lassiter of the Sheriff’s Department, Ruth Johnson, a friend of the Wilson
family, called Greenwood Police after discovering Wilson’s body in the kitchen.
Terry Wilson, 20, Wilson’s son by a previous marriage, was asleep in a bedroom
when the shooting occurred, according to Detective Sgt. William Bradley of the
sheriff’s department. Bradley said Wilson was dead when police arrived at the
trailer. Pathologist Harley P. Palmer ruled Wilson died of a single gunshot
wound in the heart. Assisting at the scene were sheriff’s deputies William
Lucid, James Mowery, Steven Byerly, and Rick Stephens, along with Sheriff J.
Robert Haugh. Jeff Perkins of the Indiana State Police also responded. According
to Lassiter, Wilson was father to six children including Terry Wilson by a prior
marriage. Another son, Tim Wilson, is stationed at Great Lakes Naval Training
Center, Illinois, while four other children live with their mother in Fort
Wayne. Wilson was employed by the McLean Trucking Company of Indianapolis as a
truck driver since 1963. He formerly resided at 30 Crescent Court in Franklin.
Services for Wilson are pending. (Reprinted with permission from the Daily
