White River flavor!

       Wonder what resident of other areas of Johnson County would think about a county sheriff’s deputy being based at the White River Township fire station? The idea- and so far it is apparently just an idea – has been tossed around at gatherings of the White River Township Coalition. When Sheriff Bob Haugh took his considerably increased budget proposal for 1980 to the county council’s budget hearings Wednesday, guess who was out in force to support him? The White River Township Coalition! Observers think there could be some merit to the idea, since a recent sheriff’s department report indicates about 40 percent of the 4,541 complaints between Feb. 1 and Aug. 31 were from White River Township.  (Reprinted with permission from the Daily Journal)
