Driver injured as car flips below State Road 37 bridge
An unidentified driver was injured shortly after 10 a.m. today when his car went off State Road 37 and flipped on an embankment of the Honey Creek bridge. Hosing down the overturned car is White River township volunteer fireman Glenn Duthie, while Johnson county sheriff's deputy Danny Blankenship and other officers inspect the passenger compartment. The driver was transported to St. Francis Hospital Center by Myers Ambulance Service. His identity and the extend of injuries were not available by deadline today. Witnesses told Blankenship the car had been weaving on State Road 37 while traveling southbound from Southport Road. The car apparently bounced off of the northwest guard rail of the bridge, went down the north embankment, jumped the creek, struck its front end on the south embankment and flipped onto its top.
