Worker crushed by truck
An Indianapolis man working for a trash collection service in Greenwood was killed yesterday when he fell beneath the wheels of a trash truck in a Greenwood mobile home park. State Police say Jerry G. Smith, 26, 4200 Holly Hill Drive, was killed when he fell from the rear of a Chuck’s Scavenger Service truck in the Wheel Estates Trailer Park and his head, was crushed by the truck’s rear wheels. He had worked one month for the firm. Investigators said the truck was moving backward when Smith fell. Services for Smith will be at 11:30a.m. Friday, at Conkle Lyndhurst Funeral Home. Survivors – wife Geraldine; son Jeffery; mother Mrs. Betty Einik; father Wayman Smith; sisters Donna Wallen, Pamela Covert; brothers William, Ronnie, Michael; grandparents Mr. And Mrs. Keyth Decker.
