Good scouts
There is good news and there are good scouts in
this community. Journal readers got a combination of the two this week in the
picture coverage of the Boy Scout troop 259 at Center Grove and the White River
Township Fire Department. The Boy Scouts donated more than $1,250 to the
firefighters for the purchase of radios and other much needed equipment.
Reportedly the troop was in the process of disbanding, and therefore the money
was available for a worthy cause. Recently the same Boy Scouts also donated
funds to an area church and some Center Grove Girl Scouts. The all-volunteer
White River firefighters are certainly deserving of the contribution. The
ultimate benefits will go to the people of White River Township who seek the
best possible fire protection. Anyway, those Boy Scouts did more than their good
