Good scouts

There is good news and there are good scouts in this community. Journal readers got a combination of the two this week in the picture coverage of the Boy Scout troop 259 at Center Grove and the White River Township Fire Department. The Boy Scouts donated more than $1,250 to the firefighters for the purchase of radios and other much needed equipment. Reportedly the troop was in the process of disbanding, and therefore the money was available for a worthy cause. Recently the same Boy Scouts also donated funds to an area church and some Center Grove Girl Scouts. The all-volunteer White River firefighters are certainly deserving of the contribution. The ultimate benefits will go to the people of White River Township who seek the best possible fire protection. Anyway, those Boy Scouts did more than their good deed for the day.  (Reprinted with permission from the Daily Journal)  See related story HERE.
