And then the roof fell in
Michael Hickman and Bob Lester, right, were smiling when it was all over, but for a few brief moments Tuesday afternoon things were scary. Hickman and Lester were putting shingles on the roof that they’re sitting on in the photo, when it suddenly collapsed on them. Pinned under the structure, Hickman held up the wood while Lester scrambled out. Then Lester held up the roof section and Hickman crawled away. One construction worker said that it took five men to move the roof section. The incident happened shortly after 2:30 p.m. in the Windsong addition in White River Township. Greenwood Operation Life and White River volunteers were called to the scene, by a neighbor who witnessed the accident. Fortunately neither man required treatment. Saying the accident “scared the ---out of me,” Hickman stated his luck at not being injured was “a good karma.” (Reprinted with permission from the Daily Journal)
