Three injured in SR 37 mishap

Three persons were injured in a two-car crash Tuesday night on State Road 37 at the intersection with Stones Crossing Road. Treated and released at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove were Chaun Russell, 16, Martinsville Route Eight; Kristina Lynn Stratton, 17, Indianapolis, and Nellie Mae Reed, 52, Greenwood Route Four. According to the report by Indiana State Trooper Dan Logsdon the cars collided in the southbound lane of State Road 37. The report states Mrs. Read was southbound on the state highway in a 1967 Rambler and a 1973 Buick driven by Mrs. Stratton was westbound on Stones Crossing Road. Mrs. Stratton told officials she had stopped for the stop sign on Stones Crossing Road and proceeded into the crossover. The Stratton vehicle was knocked into a ditch and into a sign. Russell was a passenger in the Stratton vehicle. White River Township rescue workers responded to the scene. Mrs. Read complained of pain in her shoulder and suffered a serious cut on her right leg. Russell suffered a shoulder injury and abrasions to the right side of her head. The victims were taken to the hospital by Myers Ambulance of Greenwood.  (Reprinted with permission from the Daily Journal)
