Five hurt in crash

       Five persons were injured Thursday afternoon in a three-car crash on Smith Valley Road near State Road 135. A chain reaction accident involving autos driven by Ruby J. Shotts, 58, Indianapolis, Jean E. Sutton, 41, Greenwood Route Four, and Randall E. Perkins, 20, 2276 South Morgantown Road, forced a traffic tie-up for nearly 30 minutes around 5 p.m. Taken to the hospital for treatment were Ms. Shotts, Mrs. Sutton, Merrill Sutton, 46, same address, Cheryl Richards, 18, Greenwood Route Four, and Anne Williams, 42, 369 South Peterman Road. All but Mrs. Sutton were released from the hospital following emergency treatment. Mrs. Sutton was transferred to Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis where she is listed in “satisfactory” condition.  (Reprinted with permission from the Daily Journal)
