About lady firefighter

       To the editor,

         She made the highest grade.  She had a perfect score.  She was very active and made more fire and rescue runs that any other person in the department.  She loves her work, but she was voted against for joining a volunteer firefighter group.  By Whom?  Men.  I do not know Mrs. (Pat) McDaniel and I do not live in White River Township, but this to me screams of discrimination on basis of sex.  Why didn’t she get the job?  Weren’t there some reasons other than “the wives?”  I feel she needs an explanation.  Doesn’t the community have a say in who gets a volunteer job.  Hope she has better luck next time.  In many places it is still a “man’s world.”
