Fireman has opinion

       To the editor,

In regard to the article in the last Thursday evening Journal, concerning the rejected vote given Pat McDaniel toward her becoming a volunteer member of the White River Township Volunteer Fire Department, I personally think the men that voted her out were afraid she would do a much better job than they could do themselves.  She was allowed to fill out an application and was placed on a one year probationary period of which she answered more that 200 fire and rescue runs.  She also attended the Wayne Township School and made a perfect score, the first person ever to achieve this.  It is my understanding them, the members, are willing to let her file another application and spend another year on probation.  This is really big of them.  The men on the department that voted against her should really be proud of themselves.  I personally would not want to serve with them.  I spent 20 years on the New Whiteland department and am proud of every one of them, plus the women too.

Respectfully,

R.W. McDaniel
New Whiteland
