CPR classes to be offered
The White River Township fire station will be the site for three sets of classes this month in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Medical officials predict that thousands of lives could be saved each year if CPR were administered within the first few minutes after a cardiac arrest. CPR could also be instrumental in saving the lives of drowning, electrocution, intoxication or automobile accident victims. The CPR method involves artificial breathing and artificial blood circulation. It must be started quickly if a person’s heart quits and he stops breathing, since biological death follows in about six minutes when the brain quits due to lack of oxygen. Residents of White River Township who are interested in taking the course are asked to contact Bill or Diane Wire at 888-7170. The two-part session will be offered May 11 and 12, May 18 and 20, and May 25 and 26. Classes will last from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and will be limited to 18 persons. Participants must be 18 years old or older and should wear comfortable clothing. In order to be certified, all participants must participate in both classes of a session. Instructors for the CPR classes will be Dale Bancroft, Linda Bancroft and John Wheeler. (Reprinted with permission of the Daily Journal)
