Fire damages mobile home
White River Township fire inspectors are still investigating the cause of a blaze Wednesday night which left a White River Township couple homeless. Approximately 15 firemen and four White River trucks were called out to the fire at 7:29 p.m. Wednesday night at a mobile home at Lot 143, Wheel Estates South on County Line Road. The trailer, which is owned by the Wheel Estates Company, was occupied by Darrell and Betty Powell. Though firefighters were able to get the blaze under control quickly, the trailer’s contents and structure were declared a total loss. Damage was estimated at $6,500 by the residents. Gene Francis, manager of Wheel Estates, said Thursday the family had been offered another mobile home, but had opted to stay with friends Wednesday night. He said the contents and trailer were insured. (Reprinted with permission of the Daily Journal)
