Police seek man in alleged beating
Johnson County Sheriff’s Deputies are searching for a young Southside Indianapolis man who allegedly “pistol whipped” his grandmother early this morning in her rural Greenwood trailer. Around 4:30 a.m., Johnson County and Greenwood law officers were called to the trailer of Alice Bischoff, 67, Greenwood Route Five. Mrs. Bischoff told police that her grandson, Jeff Baker, Indianapolis, had come into her trailer and had beaten her with a .22 caliber automatic pistol. Mrs. Bischoff told Deputy Mike McElwain that she had managed to grab a rifle and fired a shot at the assailant. She said that the shot missed, but Baker fled from the scene in an unknown direction. Mrs. Bischoff was treated for bruises at the scene by White River Township emergency volunteers, and then transported to Johnson County Memorial Hospital where she was again treated and released. The search for Baker is being centered in Indianapolis among places his is known to frequent, McElwain’s report noted. No reason for the attack has been established yet.
