Campfire
There was excitement in White River Township Monday evening after what started out to be a simple autumn campfire. White River firefighter Dave Fishel reported that some youngsters had pitched a pup tent and built a campfire in the Shadow Hills subdivision near Fairview Road. The lads had apparently neglected to tell the owner that they were camping.
Firefighters were called to the scene about 8:30 p.m. by concerned neighbors who
thought the woods were on fire. “It was a good, proper campfire,” Fishel said.
“The boys had cleared off a good dirt area around the fire.” But they didn’t
inform anyone, or get permission. As a result there was a traffic jam of
emergency vehicles, sightseers and worried by-standers.
