Train derails in White River Township
In
the photo below, a small boy looks at awe at the destruction created by this
morning's Illinois Central Gulf freight train derailment on Peterman Road at the
Wheel Estates Mobile Home Park, west of Greenwood. Fifteen 100 and 200-ton
fully loaded coal cars in the 47-car, northbound train derailed about 6:45 a.m.
today. Two cars struck two trailers in the mobile home park, causing only
minor damage and no injuries. (Reprinted with permission
