Two homes damaged by Sunday fires
Two homes in White River township were damaged Sunday by fires, which firemen say began in faulty fireplaces. Firemen of the White River township volunteer fire department were called at 7:34 p.m. Sunday to a fire at the Mike Kuebel residence on Peterman road and again at 9:40 p.m. to a similar fire at the Merrill Wesemann residence, 109 Carefree court. Both fires began underneath the homes near the fireplace, firemen said. Firemen had to chop through the floors of both residences to gain access to the fires, which were smoldering underneath the houses, a spokesman said. Damage to the Kuebel residence was estimated at about $1,000, and damage to the Wesemann residence was estimated at about $2,000 the spokesman said. (Reprinted with permission of the Daily Journal)
