Firemen contain new home blaze
Firemen from three
Johnson county fire departments battled a blaze in a new home valued at $125,000
early Saturday morning in White River township. Damage in the Blaze at the
Harold Jockish residence was estimated at over $30,000. Firemen reported
construction on the new home has only been recently completed and the Jockish
family was in the process of moving into the home when the blaze occurred. The
family includes six children ranging from in age from three to 16. The fire,
which is believed to have started due to faulty wiring, was first discovered
about 7:45 a.m. Saturday morning. Julie Jockish, 13, smelled smoke in the house
and her mother summoned firemen. Volunteer firemen from rural Whiteland, White
River township and Bargersville answered the fire alarms. Thirty-five
firefighters from the three county departments contained the fire to the upper
level of the modern new home, but extensive damage occurred. Firemen and
equipment were kept at the scene for more than two hours. No injuries were
reported in the blaze. The home is located on County Road 600 North.
