Fire destroys barn, trailer
A barn was destroyed
and a house trailer gutted by fires reported early Thursday morning to the White
River volunteer fire department. Firemen answered a call to the Ethan Peters
residence on Smith Valley road west of State Road 135 at 6:15 a.m. where a barn
valued at $9,500 was destroyed. Damage was also reported to equipment in the
barn and there was some damage to the adjacent house. A fuse box was blown off
the wall and damage was reported to the water heater in the home. White River
firemen estimate damage to the home about $350. No cause for the barn fire has
been determined at this time. While firemen were still on the scene of the barn
fire, they were called at 8:30 a.m. to a fire at the L.E. Scott house trailer on
lot 274 at Wheel Estates. According to firemen, a clothes dryer started the fire
which completely gutted the trailer. No one was home at the time of the blaze.
