House fire reported in White River Township
Extensive smoke damage to a home owned by Ralph Spitler on Greenwood route five was reported by the White River Township firemen. The 2:30 a.m. blaze resulted in estimated $2,500 damage, according to firemen. Firemen stated the fire was caused by ashes being thrown into a waste basket. Upon arrival at the home, a hallway leading to the garage was on fire and the house was filled with smoke. At the time of the fire, there were eight people in the home. A child sleeping downstairs, awakened members of the two families living in the home. No injuries resulted from the blaze. (Reprinted with permission of the Daily Journal)
