Grass fires are reported

       White River volunteer firemen received two calls to grass fires Wednesday. The department was called at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday to investigate a trash fire off Smith Valley Road west of State Road 135. At 4:40 p.m., the department was called to a field south of Green Valley addition, east on Smith Valley Road. Approximately five acres were burned off and it took firemen approximately 25 minutes to contain the fire, according to White River firemen.  (Reprinted with permission of the Daily Journal)
