Fire destroys barn near Bargersville

Fire destroyed a pole barn and its contents late Thursday morning near Bargersville.  The fire was reported by Ron Elkins, Greenwood Route Three, at 10:45 a.m.  Johnson County Sheriff's authorities said 70 bales of hay, a garden tractor, and other contents of the pole barn were burned.  Estimated damage in the fire was set at $7,000.  Firemen from Bargersville and White River Township were summoned to the fire.  A green hay pile may have been the origin of the fire, but an investigation into the cause was being continued.  The pole barn was 40 by 60 feet in size.   (Courtesy of the Daily Journal)
