News from White
River Twp VFD
No fires
were reported during the past week – we are always relieved to report this fact.
Precautions to remember
about your television set:
- You shouldn’t try to
repair your television set. It’s much too complex for amateur “tinkering.”
You could receive a severe shock. Some of the parts of your set stores up
thousands of volts; these parts are always discharged by the television
repairman before he starts to work on it. Remember; call a repairman if
your set needs fixing.
- Be careful you don’t
cover up the ventilating holes. For instance, don’t cut legs off a table
model set or place the set on a table too small for the legs to rest on.
The air space underneath is necessary. And don’t install your set in a
tight cubicle, unless it was especially manufactured for such
installations. The precautions are important, because television sets
generate considerable heat. This heat accumulates dangerously when
ventilation is cut off.
- Have a UL-labeled
lightning
arrester installed. The television antenna may increase the danger of
lightning striking your house. An arrester, properly installed is a form of
protection.
