Motion passes on new fire department
Members of the Smith Valley Community Center voted this evening in favor of a proposal to allow the segregated formation of the Smith Valley Volunteer Fire Department. The new group will operate with its own set of by-laws and elect its own set of officers. The Smith Valley Community Center voted also to turn over $197.30 to the treasurer of the Fire Department in order to start its new account. The following is the verbiage from the official meeting minutes.
Howard Robinson read the proposed by-laws of the volunteer fire department. After much discussion, Almer Armstrong made a motion that the board of directors accept the by-laws as read. It was seconded by Rex Riggs. Motion carried.
